Violence erupted again on Wednesday morning when Israeli troops stormed the northern West Bank city of Nablus. The Israeli assault left 25 Palestinians injured and effectively placed the Old City under siege.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), its medical teams treated all 25 individuals for tear gas inhalation, with one hospitalized and the remainder receiving care on site.
Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli forces opened fire with live ammunition, rubber-coated bullets, and tear gas during the operation.
The UN agency also condemned an assault by Israeli forces on the village of al-Mughayyir in the West Bank last Thursday.
In a statement on X, the OHCHR described the attack as “another example of the ongoing oppression and coercion against Palestinians.”
During the raid, Israeli troops stormed more than 30 homes, ransacked houses, and fired tear gas shells inside a residence.
According to reports, Israeli soldiers confiscated jewelry, money, and vehicles while blocking journalists and residents from entering the village.
Rawhi Fattouh, head of the Palestinian National Council (PNC), denounced the raid as part of a “systematic policy of forced displacement and ethnic cleansing.”
He linked the violence in al-Mughayyir to Israel’s broader settlement expansion, particularly the recently approved E1 project, a plan that would effectively cut the West Bank in two and prevent the establishment of a viable Palestinian state.
In a landmark ruling last July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declared Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territory as unlawful and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Al-Quds.
