News - Yemen: Yemen’s Shura Council has strongly condemned US Republican congressional candidate Valentina Gomez for burning a copy of the Holy Quran, calling the act a deliberate provocation against Muslims worldwide.

In a statement, the council said the desecration of Islam’s holy book was not an isolated act but part of a systematic campaign targeting Islamic sanctities and symbols. It accused the US administration of overlooking such incidents in order to serve what it described as “global Zionist agendas.”

The council also warned that repeated provocations against Islam, alongside ongoing Israeli actions in Gaza with American and Western backing, would not be possible without the silence of many Muslim governments. It urged Arab and Islamic states to respond with stronger measures, including economic boycotts, and called for greater unity through organizations such as the Association of Shura and Senate Councils.

Incidents of Quran burning in Western countries have drawn widespread condemnation in recent years, often justified under the banner of “freedom of expression.” Muslim organizations and rights groups say such actions amount to hate speech and deliberate provocation, fueling Islamophobia and undermining coexistence.

While many Western governments strictly prohibit anti-Semitism, critics argue that they have failed to apply the same standards to anti-Islamic acts, further straining relations with Muslim communities at home and abroad.
