News- Middle East: The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) World Service says Israel’s killing of Al-Alam journalist Rasmi Jihad Salem has once again revealed the true face of a regime that “silences truth-tellers with bullets.”

In a statement on Tuesday, IRIB World Service confirmed that Salem, a cameraman and news coordination officer with Iran’s Arabic-language TV network, was killed by Israeli forces while returning from a reporting mission in Gaza.

The broadcaster paid tribute to Salem, describing him as a “brave and committed journalist” whose death exposes “the true face of a regime that spares neither women nor children and silences truth-tellers with bullets.”

Salem had reported from the frontlines, providing live coverage and in-depth reports, earning a reputation as a dedicated and courageous journalist, the statement said.

"He built his defense with a camera and became a storyteller of truth,” the statement added.

The IRIB World Service also extended condolences to Salem’s family, colleagues at Al-Alam, and the wider IRIB family. The broadcaster said that “the blood of Gaza’s fallen journalists will never be in vain, and the truths they reported will endure in the conscience of humanity.”

Salem's death brought to 248 the number of journalists and media workers who have been killed by Israel in Gaza since the regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023.

The statement further said that Israel's killing of journalists is a deliberate attempt to suppress the truth in Gaza. However, "the blood of journalists speaks louder than any media outlet.”
