News - Yemen: Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem on Wednesday paid tribute to Yemen, describing it as a “great and courageous nation” that bears heavy sacrifices in defense of Palestine and as an expression of Arab and Islamic unity.

Speaking at Hezbollah’s central rally marking the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, Sheikh Qassem said: “I extend a very special salute to Yemen – the great, the brave Yemen – that carries immense burdens for Palestine, for the unity of the Ummah, and for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian cause.”

He stressed that Yemen today serves as a model of resilience and steadfastness, explaining that despite the costs it endures, the Yemeni people view these sacrifices as insignificant compared to the principles they uphold. 

Sheikh Qassem highlighted Yemen’s unity between its people, army, and leadership, noting that such cohesion, founded on truth and justice, also reinforces national unity.

Sheikh Qassem added that Hezbollah’s call for Islamic unity is rooted in a spirit of cooperation and solidarity, while also extending to the principle of national unity across all Arab and Muslim countries. “When we share one land, we face the same challenges, the same destiny. Unity means standing together so that we may be stronger, supporting one another in the face of adversities,” he said.

His remarks came just hours after Israeli warplanes launched deadly strikes on Sana’a and Al-Jawf, killing at least 35 civilians and wounding more than 130, according to Yemen’s Health Ministry. 

Hezbollah and other resistance groups across the region have voiced solidarity with Yemen, framing the attacks as part of a US-backed Israeli campaign against Arab nations supporting Palestine.
