Massive Pro-Palestine Protests Erupt in Sanaa, Yemeni Crowds Vow to Continue Red Sea Blockade

News - Yemen: Millions of Yemenis flooded Al-Sabeen Square in the capital Sanaa on Friday in a massive demonstration of solidarity with Gaza, using the event to issue stark warnings against any regional cooperation with the Israeli enemy, particularly criticizing Saudi Arabia.

The crowds gathered under the slogan "With Gaza... we will not accept the disgrace of abandonment, no matter the crimes of the aggression," filling the main square and its extensions despite scorching heat. Protesters carried Yemeni and Palestinian flags, images of martyred leaders from the "Axis of Resistance," and copies of the Quran, symbolizing their stated religious motivation.

A central theme of the chants was a vehement rejection of the outcomes of the recent Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, which speakers derided as ineffective. The crowds chanted, "Princes, rulers, and leaders.. they issued a statement as usual," and "A summit whose stance is not worth mentioning.. it only made the Zionists more greedy."

The most pointed messages were directed at Saudi Arabia. The crowds repeatedly chanted warnings against any Saudi-led effort to protect Israeli navigation in the Red Sea, a clear response to recent maritime security conferences in Riyadh. Key chants included: "No matter what Al Saud does.. the ships of the Jews will not pass," and "Whoever moves under (Israel's) titles.. we will show him doom."

The protest also reaffirmed strong support for the ongoing naval blockade against Israeli vessels. The crowds roared in unison: "This blockade is for the occupier.. no, the ships of the occupier will not pass," and "It will extend to whoever intervenes.. no, the ships of the occupier will not pass."

A final statement released by the march organizers declared that nearly two years of war have proven that "the choice represented in confronting the Zionist enemy and jihad in the path of God against it... was the most correct and wise." It characterized all other approaches as not only worthless but as an encouragement to the enemy.

The statement concluded with a direct warning to the "Saudi regime, along with the American and British," and anyone else considering protecting Israeli navigation, stating they would "receive nothing but defeat and loss," and would be faced with even greater force than before, promising them "disgrace and scandal before the entire world" for supporting "the murderers of women and children."

The protest is part of a recurring series of weekly million-man marches organized in Sanaa  and other governorates since the onset of the Israeli genocidal war in Gaza. These rallies serve as both a show of popular support for Palestine and a platform for the Sanaa's leadership to communicate strategic messages regarding their military campaign against Israeli shipping in the Red Sea.
