News - Yemen: Tunisian thinker and poet Riad al-Sharayti praised the steadfast support of the Yemeni people and their Armed Forces for Palestine and the resistance movement in Gaza.

In an interview with Arab Journal, al-Sharayti said Yemen has engaged in an open confrontation not only with the Israeli enemy, but also with all reactionary powers and backers of the occupation. He noted that Yemen has endured economic and political sanctions imposed by the US, Europe, and their regional allies, in order to uphold Gaza’s struggle.

The Tunisian intellectual emphasized that Yemen’s stance has gone beyond symbolic solidarity, describing it as a “practical embodiment of comprehensive resistance” — one that combines military capability, popular resilience, and logistical support for Palestinians.

Al-Sharayti highlighted that Yemen’s perseverance serves as a lesson for the Arab and Islamic nations, demonstrating continuous and unwavering support for Gaza without retreat or submission. He added that this steadfastness represents a genuine model of resistance against imperialism and Zionism, proving the ability of nations to challenge global powers when driven by a firm will and a revolutionary national project.

He concluded by stressing that Yemen today stands as a symbol for the Arab and Islamic nations’ potential for liberation, underscoring the urgent need for firm positions like Yemen’s in contrast to the complacency and weakness of most official Arab regimes.

The Yemeni campaign has effectively constrained Israeli enemy navigation and commerce, demonstrating that the consequences of the conflict are extending beyond the military sphere to directly impact the economy, investment, and the cost of living, placing a heavy burden on the state's finances and consumers.

Since November 2023, the Yemeni Armed Forces have conducted a persistent campaign against Israeli-linked shipping in the Red Sea and launched missiles and drones toward occupied territories. They state these operations are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and will continue until the Israeli enemy siege is lifted.
