News - Middle East: Iran’s top military commanders have vowed that any act of aggression against the country will be met with “a unified, swift, intelligent, and powerful response” from the combined forces of the Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Iranian Army’s chief Major General Amir Hatami and IRGC Chief Major General Mohammad Pakpour met and held talks on the occasion of Sacred Defense Week that commemorates the anniversary of the Iraq-imposed war on Iran in the 1980s.

General Hatami stated that since the Islamic Revolution, enemies have persistently demanded Iran “give up its rightful demands,” but underlined the nation’s continued resistance through enduring hardships and great sacrifices.

“The enemies must change their view of the great people of Iran, the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the great leadership of the Islamic Revolution,” he noted.

He highlighted the critical strategic alliance between the Army and the IRGC, describing their unity as “the solid pillar of national security” and “an iron shield” against conspiracies.

Reflecting on the Sacred Defense and the past conflicts, Hatami stated that Iran “thwarted the great conspiracy of the East and the West” thanks to public support.

He also pointed to the recent “12-day imposed war” as proof that Iran “will not compromise on our national interests,” vowing that the armed forces would “continue the path of the martyrs with authority.”

Addressing the enemies of the Iranian nation, General Hatami declared that any further miscalculation would bring a “firm and regretful response.”

Major General Pakpour, for his part, stated that the events of the recent US-Israeli aggression strongly recalled the national unity and revolutionary spirit seen at the outset of the Iran-Iraq War, emphasizing that the same “exemplary cohesion” witnessed during the eight-year Sacred Defense was again evident throughout the country.

The IRGC chief also highlighted the unparalleled role of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, noting that despite the early martyrdom of top commanders, his strategic wisdom in appointing successors and directing operations forced the Israelis and the Americans to seek a ceasefire.

On June 13, Israel launched an unprovoked aggression against Iran, initiating a 12-day war that resulted in at least 1,064 Iranian casualties, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

The United States further escalated the conflict by unlawfully bombing three peaceful Iranian nuclear facilities.

Through successful retaliatory operations, Iran effectively halted the terrorist assault by June 24.
