Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi Speaks on 1st Anniversary of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah Martyrdom, in English (Sept. 21, 2025)

Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi Speaks on 1st Anniversary of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah Martyrdom, in English (Sept. 21, 2025)

I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the outcast.

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

Praise is to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. I believe that there is no god but Allah, the Sovereign and the Manifest Truth, and that Muhammad, our master, is His servant, Messenger, and Last Prophet.

O Allah! Confer Your salat and blessings upon Muhammad and the Family of Muhammad as You conferred Your salat and blessings upon Ibrahim and the Family of Ibrahim. You are Owner of Praise, Owner of Glory! And be pleased with Muhammad's good companions and all Your righteous servants and mujahidin.

Brothers and sisters, peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

Allah (Glorified and Exalted) said in the Holy Quran, {'Among the believers are men who have proven true to what they pledged to Allah. Some of them have fulfilled their pledge [with their lives], others are waiting [their turn]. They have never changed [their commitment] in the least'}[Al-Ahzab 33:23]. This is the word of truth from Almighty Allah.

On the first anniversary of the martyrdom of the martyr of Islam and humanity, Al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, his comrade in jihad, Al-Sayyid Hashim Safi Al-Din, and their fellow martyrs from Hezbollah, we renew our condolences to the entire Islamic Ummah, our brothers in Hezbollah and the Lebanese resistance, and the people of Lebanon.

A year has passed since their martyrdom (May Allah be pleased with them), yet their presence is still powerfully felt. The martyr of Islam and humanity, Al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah (May Allah be pleased with him), remains present:

  • in the hearts of the free people around the world,
  • in the unwavering path he forged in jihad and resistance,
  • in his just cause and righteous stance,
  • in the profound fruits of his efforts, which nurtured a generation of mujahidin, expanded awareness, and deepened the sense of responsibility throughout our Islamic Ummah and beyond,
  • in the momentous achievements Allah granted through his jihad—achievements now firmly established and consolidated by his martyrdom.

Al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah (May Allah be pleased with him), the martyr of Islam and humanity, was one of those rare historic leaders whom Allah endowed with the qualities for a momentous role, and through whom much was realised. This generation lived in his time, witnessed him, came to know him, and recognised the remarkable qualities and noble traits that distinguished this leader, as well as the unique and vital role he played in facing the Israeli enemy.

He was the anchor of the region, standing as steadfast as a mountain against the so-called 'New Middle East' project launched by the criminal Bush in 2002 and pursued right after the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Lebanon was central to that project, and the 2006 war on Lebanon marked a decisive turning point in its course.

In 2006, during the early days of the aggression against Lebanon, then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice issued a statement clarifying the major American objectives behind the Israeli assault on Lebanon—a war waged at America’s behest and with its support. She laid out the main goals of that assault and the meaning of the 'New Middle East', declaring, 'I have no interest in diplomacy. … What we're seeing here, in a sense, is the growing -- the birth pangs of a new Middle East and whatever we do we have to be certain that we're pushing forward to the new Middle East not going back to the old one.' Yet after the resounding victory of Lebanon and the Ummah, the project collapsed, crushed by the mujahidin in Lebanon. Had the Arabs recognised this, supported it, and abandoned their plots against it, events would have turned in favour of the Ummah, which would now be enjoying even more significant results.

For more than four decades, the martyr Al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah (May Allah be pleased with him) has long been, and continues to be, a real nightmare for the Zionists. He made the Zionists experience the real meaning of defeat after decades of easily defeating Arabs. His iconic declaration, 'Israel is weaker than a spider’s web,' has become embedded in the Jewish-Zionist memory and turned into a persistent security obsession that the Zionists and their leaders cannot overcome, demonstrating the deep-seated weakness of the criminal, oppressive entity.

Al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah (May Allah be pleased with him) held an exceptional place in the Ummah, restoring hope to the Ummah when it was on the brink of despair, after a series of defeats, betrayals, and setbacks that shackled the Ummah’s understanding and left many psychologically shattered before the Israeli enemy.

He played a leading role in correcting misconceptions, refuting the Jewish narrative and thwarting Zionist attempts to embed defeatism, weakness, and total submission within the Ummah.

It was not just his illuminating words or passionate speeches; his voice was the echo of great deeds, monumental efforts, and achievements of a kind rarely witnessed in modern history—achievements that even the combined might of armies could not come close to matching, not even slightly.

The martyr Al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah (May Allah be pleased with him) needs no introduction as a great mujahid, an astute political leader, and a devout scholar who spent the greater part of his noble life confronting the Israeli enemy: He made every effort to defend Lebanon and the Ummah, repel Israeli aggression, and build the resistance to be capable of achieving liberation and defeating the Israeli enemy.

In one of his most enduring messages and guiding words—ones that remain immortal across generations—he said, 'We can never be defeated. When we win a victory, we win; and when we are martyred, we also win. We stand on the verge of a great victory, so we must not let ourselves be defeated by the fall of a great leader; rather, we should carry his blood, his banner, and his objectives, and move forward with unwavering resolve and a longing to meet Allah.' These words alone are enough. They carry the essential lesson that every free person in the Islamic Ummah and this world must absorb. They encapsulate what we should fully understand about what has happened, what has been accomplished, and what must be persistently pursued in light of these events.

Lebanon and the entire region were blessed with truly monumental achievements—clear and unmistakable—through the efforts, jihad, and patience of the martyr Al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah (May Allah be pleased with him), his fellow martyrs, Hezbollah, the Lebanese resistance, and their steadfast popular base. When you reflect on what was accomplished in terms of liberation, you see, for example, the liberation of 2000, which, by Allah’s grace, was a historic and unparalleled victory for the Arabs—a triumph without precedent. This victory came after a series of setbacks for Arab governments and regimes. It resulted in the Israeli enemy being driven from almost all the territory it had occupied in Lebanon, with only a few areas, such as the Shebaa Farms and some limited areas, remaining under occupation.

That extraordinary, historic victory resonated around the world, leaving a profound impact, especially in solidifying correct principles for our Islamic Ummah—principles that should remain alive in the Ummah’s awareness and consciousness. On the ground, it produced tangible outcomes, liberating Lebanon from Israeli occupation and control.

Another example is the clear and significant victory achieved in 2006. It played a significant role in establishing powerful and enduring deterrence for Lebanon, bringing stability and security to the Lebanese people for over eighteen years—one of the most significant periods Lebanon has experienced stability and protection from the Israeli enemy.

Any problems that occurred during that lengthy period—be they economic crises, attempts to stir up chaos, or efforts to destabilise Lebanon—were the work of other parties with ties to the Americans, the US embassy, and their various schemes. These parties conducted a relentless and ongoing campaign, both in the media and economically, targeting Hezbollah’s popular support base and the resistance in Lebanon to undermine Lebanon’s overall situation.

Nevertheless, Allah (Glory be to Him) granted major, undeniable achievements to Hezbollah, the Lebanese resistance, and their steadfast supporters. No one can deny or downplay these achievements—which are established realities—no matter how hard some try to obscure them with false campaigns aimed at distorting public awareness and entrenching defeatism.

The Ummah in general has also benefited from these achievements. The victory that Allah (Glory be to Him) granted to Hezbollah and the Lebanese resistance has had enormous significance for the protection of the entire region against the Israeli threat. It has now become clear and indisputable that the Israeli enemy truly targets the entire Ummah—every country and every people. The 'Middle East' project, promoted by Bush at the time and still pursued by the Americans, is in fact a joint project between the Americans and the Israelis. Its true aim is to target this entire Ummah—all the peoples and countries of the region, without exception.

Continuing this path is an ongoing commitment. The responsibility for preserving this great achievement now rests with a jihadist movement with its loyal supporters. Hezbollah continues to carry the banner through its leadership and mujahidin, remaining steadfast under the truthful slogan: 'We remain faithful to our covenant.' Moreover, these mujahidin are not alone; they are part of a steadfast and resilient striving ummah, with many fronts remaining active with unwavering determination, profound faith, and great insight. This is evident to all. For this reason, Hezbollah is not alone, nor will it be left to stand alone. It is part of the axis and a wider ummah, and it holds a leading role on these fronts that take action and raise the banner in the face of the most dangerous criminal and aggressive scheme targeting all humanity, with our Islamic Ummah at its forefront.

The reality, with all its events and developments and with Israeli savagery now evident to the whole world, confirms the soundness of the choice of jihad and resistance as an inevitable, wise, and correct choice. In fact, there is no alternative to it except surrender.

In the face of the Zionist scheme, human society, particularly the Islamic Ummah, has no choice but to take action or surrender. This scheme involves criminals who act with relentless hostility through practical steps, sparing no one, including those who seek to avoid them and those who want to make peace with them. Even those who want to normalise relations with them are not safe from this threat, which targets everyone.

Therefore, jihad in the path of Allah, resistance, and confronting the Zionist scheme must be a decisive choice, accepted and supported by all. At the same time, it should be a catalyst for the reconstruction and reform of this Ummah and an incentive for tackling every issue the enemy may exploit to advance its schemes and conspiracies. It should also spur the pursuit of every source of strength within the Ummah through cooperation and combined efforts, with a clear understanding that we need all possible means to enhance our power to avert this threat that threatens all.

When some call for disarming the resistance in Lebanon and Palestine—a call that has now extended to include Iran and its missiles—this reflects an American and Israeli demand. It is unsurprising that they, as malicious enemies pursuing satanic goals and criminal plans to occupy and dominate this Ummah, would seek to eliminate any obstacle that blocks their control and the realisation of their objectives.

We—as a Muslim ummah, as Arab and Muslim peoples—are the ones most in need of every kind of weapon and the military equipment necessary to confront the threat directed at us. We are an ummah under threat, so the problem does not lie in possessing weapons or any other elements of power; rather, the problem arises when we lack the weapons that can deter the enemy and halt its aggression. That is the real problem for us.

The Ummah should have no issue with Hezbollah possessing weapons that pose a challenge to the Israelis and prevent it from occupying Lebanon and dominating the region, nor with the weapons held by the fellow mujahidin in the Al-Qassam Brigades and the other jihadist factions in the Gaza Strip to impede the Israelis from easily taking control of the rest of Palestine. This should not be a contentious issue within the Ummah itself, nor a reason for Arab regimes to adopt Israeli and American dictates. For these weapons to pose a challenge to the Israeli enemy and obstruct its destructive, devilish, aggressive aims is precisely what is required indeed.

Therefore, when we look at other countries across the world, taking 2024 as an example, we find that most countries and major powers have turned to increasing their arms purchases, stepping up weapons production, and allocating vast budgets to military spending. Major Western countries have done so, as have international alliances. Most countries across the globe have sought to ramp up their military expenditure in response to perceived threats and with the aim of securing their national security interests.

According to some statistics, global military spending has reached its highest level since what is referred to as 'the Cold War'. In Europe, military expenditure has risen by 17%, while Russia has increased its spending by 38%. The United States remains the world's largest military spender, with a budget approaching one trillion dollars. Even in East Asia, where no wars are currently taking place, Japan has raised its military spending by 21%. NATO, likewise, has agreed to increase its military spending. This trend also extends across many other countries.

Yet we see some demanding that the peoples and countries of this very Ummah remain without weapons to defend themselves, despite the fact that it is this Ummah whose lands are under occupation and that is under constant threat, as it is targeted by the Israeli enemy—the worst, most malicious and criminal enemy on earth, utterly unbound by any values or restraints, driven by vast ambitions and deepseated hatred, and supported overwhelmingly by the Americans through endless arms shipments worth billions, including the most lethal, destructive, and genocidal arms, used to kill children and women!

Hence, this is the only reason that some are echoing the same American and Israeli demand to strip Hezbollah of its weaponry in Lebanon: It represents the main obstacle to the occupation of the country. It is widely known that the Lebanese army is not capable of defending Lebanon or preventing an Israeli invasion. Everyone knows that the Israeli enemy once invaded Lebanon, reaching as far as Beirut. It was only the resistance—through armed struggle and jihad in the path of Allah—that drove it out. This was achieved through the weapons held by devoted mujahidin who acted with awareness, insight, sacrifice, and a profound sense of faith. The major outcomes Lebanon attained were the ultimate result of the effort they made with responsibility, steadfastness, sacrifice, unwavering commitment, and wise planning, the continuous jihad they performed, and the cumulative achievements they accomplished. The truth is therefore clear.

What can Arabs and Muslims truly rely on? At the 80th session of the United Nations, speeches were delivered, recognising the Palestinian just cause and the injustice faced by the Palestinian people and acknowledging the brutality and aggression of the Israeli enemy and the scale of its crimes and genocide. Yet these words amounted to nothing more than complaints, offering no real hope that the session's outcomes would include practical positions or actual measures to halt Israeli aggression, prevent the ongoing genocide in Gaza, or protect Lebanon, Syria, or any other country in this Ummah. None of that can deliver the outcomes that are so desperately needed: It is good to some extent that these speeches involved recognition of Israeli tyranny and criminality, Palestinian rights, and the injustice faced by the peoples of this Ummah, but it cannot shield the Ummah from this looming danger or such crimes and genocide. What is truly needed are concrete, practical measures.

The criminal Netanyahu participated in the session of the United Nations. It is a disgrace for the UN that it admitted Israel as a member from the outset; it is also shameful that the UN allows the criminal Netanyahu to enter its hall and deliver a speech, since he is a criminal by global consensus. All nations and states agree that Netanyahu is a criminal, except for the Americans, who are partners in Israeli crimes. They all know that he is wanted by international courts as an oppressive criminal and an aggressor who violates all laws, agreements, and norms.

In his speech, he boasted about the most heinous and atrocious crimes that he has committed and his aggression against the peoples and countries of this Ummah. He also denied clear, evident, and established truths that have become universally undeniable, witnessed daily by the entire world:

  • acts of genocide,
  • the killing of children and women,
  • the use of starvation against the Palestinian people in Gaza,
  • deprivation of water,
  • comprehensive destruction,
  • the indiscriminate targeting of the entire Palestinian people in Gaza with the deadliest weapons provided by the United States, Britain, and Germany.

There is clear oppression recognised by all people, yet he seeks to deny these facts and glorify the horrific and shameful Israeli crimes before the world, justifying his position as though it were the correct one.

There was a clear insistence in his speech on the continuation of these crimes, coupled with a boastfulness about what has been done. It is therefore evident that broad action is necessary. Practical measures are indispensable. The chief responsibility lies primarily with Muslims, though others must also act. Alongside condemnations, there must be practical measures: There must be an economic boycott, a diplomatic boycott, and a political boycott. At the very least, there should be an effective boycott even at the level of economic relations, together with the imposition of a substantial, tangible isolation of the Israeli enemy. This is important. Support should be provided for the fronts confronting Israeli tyranny—foremost among them Gaza, the Palestinian people, and all the resistance factions in Palestine. That front must receive the support of the entire Ummah through media backing, political support, material assistance, and every other form of support. Similarly, Hezbollah in Lebanon should also be supported rather than targeted by conspiracy, backstabbing, or the adoption of aggressive American and Israeli dictates intended to facilitate occupation and control of Lebanon. There must be endorsement and support from the people of this Ummah—across its different groups and countries—for the right choice, the proper course of action, and for the fronts actively resisting Israeli aggression.

Regarding the Israeli enemy and the Yemeni front, the Israeli enemy carried out a criminal aggression last Thursday, targeting a correctional facility belonging to the security and intelligence services, which is another crime added to its criminal record against Yemen, and to its criminal record across the region and in other countries. It was a failed move, a continuation of its crimes, but it will not affect the position of our dear people, who came out yesterday in their millions on Friday, reaffirming the steadfastness of their position and their continued commitment to jihad.

Therefore, we remain committed to this choice: the path of jihad. We will continue our efforts to confront Israeli tyranny and resist the Zionist assault on our region and our Ummah as a whole, standing up to the Israeli enemy as it commits genocide against the Palestinian people.

We remain steadfast and unwavering. Our position continues and, Allah willing, is on the rise in support of the Palestinian people. We remain committed to standing with all the free people of our Ummah in the Axis of Jihad, Al-Quds, and Resistance and beyond, and with all the free people worldwide who confront tyranny, genocide, and Zionist criminality, which poses a danger to all of humanity.

We ask Allah (Glory be to Him) to grant us success in seeking what pleases Him. O Allah! Have mercy on our virtuous martyrs, heal the wounded among us, set free our captives, and grant us victory. You are the All-Hearer of prayer. We also ask Him to hasten relief and victory for the oppressed Palestinian people and for their dear mujahidin, and to grant the best of His rewards to the martyr of Islam and of humanity, Al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah (May Allah be pleased with him), and his fellow martyrs.

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
