News- Middle East: A recent survey shows Americans' support for the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip is steadily declining, as the bloody war has killed tens of thousands of people and wounded many more in the besieged coastal sliver.

Conducted by The New York Times in collaboration with the Siena Research Institute, the survey revealed that slightly over half, specifically 51 percent, of participants were against providing “further economic and military assistance to Israel.”

Approximately 35 percent of those surveyed expressed strong opposition to providing economic and military assistance to Israel, in contrast to only 19 percent who were firmly in favor of such support.

Roughly 40 percent of respondents also gave a yes answer to the question, “Do you think Israel is purposefully killing civilians?”

A greater proportion, specifically 62 percent, expressed that Israel “was not implementing sufficient measures to prevent civilian casualties.”

In contrast, only 25 percent believed "Israel is taking sufficient measures to prevent civilian casualties."

The administration of President Donald Trump has persisted in supplying weapons and additional military support for Israel's conflict in Gaza, along with tens of millions of dollars in funding to the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which operates militarized aid distribution centers where hundreds of Palestinians have lost their lives.

Last week, The Wall Street Journal disclosed that the Trump administration was pursuing congressional authorization to sell over $6 billion in arms to Israel, which includes Apache attack helicopters, along with $1.9 billion for 3,250 infantry assault vehicles.

The Israeli military has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since October 7, 2023, defying international appeals for a ceasefire, which has resulted in the deaths of at least 66,055 Palestinians, predominantly women and children.

The unrelenting airstrikes have ravaged the region and caused significant food shortages.
