Mohammad al-Farah, a member of the political bureau of the Yemeni Ansarullah movement, described Hamas’s position as responsible and realistic.
“Hamas’s response is realistic, feasible, and flexible, and demonstrates the movement’s readiness to accept political solutions,” he wrote in a post on X on Saturday.
Hamas issued an official statement on Friday night, agreeing to the general principles of a 20-point proposal forwarded by US President Donald Trump and calling for negotiations on its details.
Al-Farah considered Hamas’s move as indicative of an effort to stop the aggression, lift the siege, facilitate the exchange of prisoners, and preserve the unity of the Palestinian people.
He warned that any escalation of the conflict in Gaza would be a continuation of the process of genocide and starvation of the Palestinian people, and the responsibility for this lies with the United States and Israel.
The Yemeni official criticized Trump’s role in the plan, saying that the US president, “while being the main partner in the aggression against Gaza, cannot introduce himself as a mediator.”
He emphasized that no real mediator threatens the other side with destruction and does not impose its demands with the language of war.
“Instead of striving for peace, Trump is seeking to impose unconditional surrender, and this behavior completely calls into question Washington’s neutrality,” he noted.
Likewise, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen, also reacted to the event, saying Trump is “not a mediator, but a party to the aggression against Gaza and is clearly acting in the service of the Zionist regime.”
He underscored that peace cannot be built through threats, and a man of peace is someone who courageously listens to the other side and brings a just solution closer.
“Trump’s threats are a form of blackmail to implement the demands of the regime, whose prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has clearly stated that the goals of Trump’s plan are in line with Israel’s interests,” he added.
‘Occupation must end’
The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine confirmed its responsible participation in the consultations that led to Hamas’s official response, describing it as a unified “position of the Palestinian resistance forces.”
Palestinian Resistance Factions also expressed appreciation for regional diplomatic efforts, specifically welcoming “the Arab and Islamic positions, the Egyptian and Qatari mediation, and the Turkish efforts to unify the stance.”
They described the official response from Hamas, which was delivered on behalf of the factions, as “a cry to the world that the occupation must end, and that our people have the right to a dignified life without killing, destruction, and displacement.”
On September 29, 2025, Trump unveiled a 20-point ceasefire plan for Gaza. Despite its stated goals, the plan has been criticized by Palestinian groups and human rights organizations, who argue it focuses more on disarming Gaza than ensuring civilian safety.
Human Rights Watch has warned that any ceasefire not accompanied by lifting the siege will only perpetuate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
