Mass Protests Erupt in Occupied Taiz over Worsening Security Chaos, Lawlessness

News - Yemen: Thousands of residents in the occupied areas of Taiz took to the streets in a massive public uprising to denounce the escalating state of lawlessness and security breakdown, following a surge in killings, kidnappings, and armed robberies that have spread fear and anger among the population.

Protesters gathered in several demonstration squares across the city—under the control of the Islah Party militias loyal to the Saudi-Emirati occupation—calling for urgent action to arrest wanted criminals, enforce justice, and ensure retribution for victims.

Participants accused the security apparatus affiliated with the Islah Party of negligence and deliberate inaction, alleging that these forces are protecting perpetrators linked to the party instead of safeguarding civilians.

Families of victims and missing persons held up photos of their loved ones who were killed or abducted, many of whose cases remain unresolved in the courts—underscoring the failure of the judicial and law enforcement systems to deliver justice.

The demonstrators condemned the proliferation of armed gangs and the rise in violent crimes, pointing to a power struggle among armed factions loyal to the Saudi-Emirati coalition as the root cause of the chaos. This internal rivalry, they said, has deepened the collapse of local security institutions and created a fertile environment for acts of revenge, looting, and lawlessness in the occupied city.

Taiz and other occupied provinces face ongoing chaos, marked by killings, kidnappings, and torture of civilians. Local security forces, complicit in these crimes, have failed to protect the population.

These repeated violations amount to war crimes and breach international human rights law, yet global organizations remain largely silent, offering no accountability for the suffering inflicted on civilians.
