The announcement came in a speech delivered by Yemen's President Mahdi al-Mashat on the occasion of the 14th of October Revolution anniversary. Al-Mashat underscored Yemen’s commitment to regional stability, shared security, and rebuilding relations based on peace and mutual respect. He reaffirmed Sana’a’s full readiness for constructive dialogue with Riyadh, calling for clear mechanisms of coordination to safeguard the interests of both nations and advance genuine peace.
In a special interview with Al-Masirah TV, member of Ansarullah’s Political Bureau, Ali al-Deelami, and strategic affairs expert, Ali Hamieh, discussed the dimensions of Yemen’s renewed call for Saudi Arabia to move into the “square of peace” and end the state of de-escalation, amid fast-changing regional dynamics following the end of the war in Gaza.
Al-Deelami said the initiative stems from a sense of national responsibility after eight years of war that inflicted vast destruction and economic hardship on the Yemeni people. He stressed that the continuation of the economic blockade and Saudi control over Yemen’s national revenues poses a grave challenge that can no longer be tolerated.
He added that Yemen has maintained calm over the past two years in prioritization of the Palestinian cause during the Israeli aggression on Gaza. But with the cessation of hostilities there, the Yemeni issue has returned to prominence — especially as economic conditions worsen and salaries remain suspended while revenues are held in Saudi banks.
Al-Deelami emphasized that Saudi Arabia must now honor previously agreed commitments, free from US pressure or political blackmail tied to other regional files, including Palestine. He also noted that Yemen today possesses significant leverage and will not accept partial or superficial solutions dictated by foreign envoys or their local proxies.
For his part, Hamieh described the Yemeni initiative as a strategic shift in Sana’a’s approach to Riyadh, asserting that Yemen’s position has strengthened after demonstrating resilience in the Red Sea and Gaza fronts, where the US-Israeli coalition failed to subdue Yemen’s will.
He noted that Washington is currently seeking to reposition itself in the region after repeated setbacks, using its Gulf allies to secure strategic Yemeni islands and rare resources — including “cold uranium,” which he said is among the West’s key objectives of dominance.
Hamieh affirmed that Yemen has become a central actor in regional deterrence equations and that attempts to punish it economically will fail just as the military campaign did. He concluded that Sana’a’s peace offer is not a media maneuver but a genuine initiative to end the prolonged state of no war and no peace, urging Saudi Arabia to respond seriously as “the coming phase will not resemble the past.”
This renewed Yemeni outreach comes at a sensitive moment of shifting political and security realities across the Middle East. It reflects Yemen’s determination to overcome previous stagnation and reaffirm its commitment to regional and international efforts aimed at promoting stability, rebuilding trust, and fostering peace that serves the peoples of the region.
