The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said in a statement on Saturday that the Israeli regime carries out this policy “through a series of field and administrative measures, including the prevention of international journalists and independent investigation committees from entering Gaza.”
By blocking independent journalists, the group said, the Israeli regime “aims to deprive the world of witnessing the reality on the ground by imposing a complete media blackout and preventing all documentation and international monitoring tools from accessing the crime scenes.”
“Through these actions, Israel seeks to erase the traces of its crimes,” it added.
“Denying victims justice and preventing the world from knowing the truth are not merely additional violations but an extension of the crime of genocide itself,” the group warned.
EuroMed once again urged the United Nations and the international community to ensure full, independent access for media and forensic experts to document atrocities and secure physical and biological evidence before it is destroyed.
It also said that reconstruction and debris removal in areas where mass killings occurred must prioritize preservation and documentation of evidence.
The group called for the disclosure of forcibly disappeared persons, missing individuals, and burial sites, and demanded that remains be returned to families.
It again pressed for independent investigations and the expansion of International Criminal Court (ICC) probes to monitor evidence and ensure accountability.
“Delaying intervention gives Israel more time to destroy crime scenes, erasing the truth and obstructing justice,” EuroMed said. “Saving the truth in Gaza is now a legal and humanitarian imperative.”
In a previous statement in mid-October, the organization said that following the US-brokered agreement, “Gaza must finally be open to the world.”
The monitor reiterated that the international community must be allowed to witness the full extent of destruction, displacement, and human suffering caused by Israel’s two-year genocidal war in Gaza, which has killed more than 68,000 people, most of them women and children.
