News - Yemen: A prominent Egyptian Nasserist figure has hailed Yemen’s growing role in safeguarding maritime routes in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait, describing it as a strategic victory that serves the collective interests of Arab nations and curbs US and Zionist influence in the region.

Majdi Issa Al-Sayis, a senior member of Egypt’s Nasserist Movement, told Arab Journal that Yemen’s control over the Red Sea represents “a restoration of balance to the Arab nation,” affirming that Arab peoples are capable of protecting their resources and vital waterways without foreign guardianship.

Al-Sayis emphasized that Yemen’s steadfast support for Gaza has played a pivotal role in strengthening Palestinian resistance and disrupting Western and Zionist military plans. He noted that despite years of blockade and limited resources, Sana’a has succeeded in establishing a new deterrence equation that reinforces Arab causes and restores faith in the power of free nations to shape their destiny.

“What Sana’a is doing in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab is not a threat to anyone,” he said, “but rather a defensive act to protect Arab national security from foreign domination and a call for genuine Arab unity that preserves sovereignty and shared wealth.”

Yemen’s assertive presence in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab has reshaped regional maritime dynamics amid ongoing geopolitical tension involving US, Zionist, and Western naval forces.

Since 2023, Yemen’s Armed Forces have launched operations aimed at protecting navigation routes from foreign military exploitation and supporting the Palestinian cause, especially during the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
