Southern Lebanon Sees Sustained Escalation Amid Ceasefire Violations by Israeli Enemy

News - Middle East: The military and security situation in southern Lebanon continues to be marked by persistent escalation, according to a report from Almasirah channel's correspondent in Beirut, Zahra Halawi. This comes amid continuous violations of the ceasefire by Israeli enemy forces and simultaneous political pressure that observers suggest is aimed at imposing new conditions on Lebanon.

In a broadcast Tuesday morning, Halawi reported that the past hours had seen a surge in attacks, the most prominent being the Israeli targeting of a drone near a timber warehouse in the town of Al-Biyad in the Tyre district. The strike resulted in the deaths of two Lebanese brothers, identified as Hassan Suleiman and Hussein Suleiman, and injured a Syrian national who was present at the location.

Ongoing Violations and Civilian Toll

The correspondent cited figures indicating the persistence of Israeli assaults, with reports recording over 4,000 violations of Lebanese sovereignty since the ceasefire agreement was announced nearly a year ago. These breaches have led to approximately 300 martyrs, the majority of whom are civilians.

Last week alone witnessed a notable escalation, Halawi stated, with more than thirteen Lebanese citizens killed due to Israeli targeting of civilian cars and motorcycles, in addition to the shelling of rooms in several residential homes.

Aerial and Ground Incursions

The military escalation is accompanied by continuous violations of Lebanese airspace, with observed sustained and low-altitude flights of drones extending to villages in the south and the Bekaa region, reaching the southern suburbs of Beirut, accompanied by intermittent sorties by warplanes.

On the ground, Halawi reported other assaults, including the throwing of sound bombs at gatherings in border villages like Markaba. The most serious violation yesterday, she said, involved an Israeli tank, military vehicles, and bulldozers advancing into the "Wadi al-Burj" area between the towns of Al-Adais and Markaba. Enemy forces conducted land-leveling and engineering works before withdrawing towards areas within the occupied hills.

Political Pressure and Internal Divisions

Halawi emphasized that this field escalation coincides with intensive political pressure, manifested in Israeli threats. She noted increased rhetoric in Hebrew media about the enemy resorting to a "wide-scale operation" aimed at "disarming Hezbollah," in an attempt to intimidate domestic and international audiences.

This is compounded by American threats, she added, including direct threatening messages from the U.S. administration delivered by envoy Tom Barrack, who hinted that his next visit to Lebanon might be the "last."

The correspondent concluded that these external stances and threats are encouraged by the state of internal division within Lebanon and the adoption of the Zionist and American vision by some political parties, without an awareness of the magnitude of the dangers threatening national security and stability.
