News - Yemen: Amnesty International has called for a thorough investigation into US airstrikes targeting Sa'adah Governorate, Yemen, which killed more than 60 African migrants in April.

According to an Associated Press report, the airstrikes were part of a broader aggressive US campaign in Sa'adah, conducted within the context of American operations in Yemen aimed at supporting the Israeli enemy and pressuring Sana’a to lift restrictions on Zionist navigation in the Red Sea by force.

The organization described the attack as “suspected war crimes” and “indiscriminate,” noting that survivors—all Ethiopian migrants—reported seeing no Ansarullah fighters inside the targeted facility.

Amnesty International also highlighted remnants of precision-guided GBU-39 bombs used by the US military, emphasizing that international humanitarian law prohibits targeting facilities like shelters or prisons unless they are being used for storing weapons or planning attacks.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has not provided any specific explanation for striking the prison housing mostly Ethiopian migrants attempting to reach Saudi Arabia.

On April 28, US airstrikes targeted a migrant shelter in Sa’adah housing 115 African migrants, killing at least 60 people and injuring more than 65 others, many of them in critical condition.

The attack was part of a broader pattern of US airstrikes on civilian infrastructure in Yemen, fueling widespread condemnation from local and international human rights organizations.
