News- Middle East: The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) says Israeli military forces have raided a village in Syria’s southwestern province of Quneitra in the latest violation of the country’s sovereignty.

The Britain-based monitoring group reported that two Israeli tanks, seven military vehicles and a bulldozer advanced into al-Samdaniyah al-Sharqiyah village on Saturday morning.

They then headed towards al-Saqri checkpoint between the village of Jabah and Khan Arnabah town, before moving along the road leading to al-Salam Highway.

This came a day after Israeli forces installed a metal gate in al-Samdaniyah village in the western countryside of Quneitra as a barrier, which triggered public discontent.

SOHR sources reported on Friday that Israeli forces stationed in Tel Ahmar Gharbi base in Kodnah town had fired several artillery shells on bushes in Tel Ahmar Sharqi area in the central countryside of Quneitra.

There were, however, no reports of casualties or material damage.

In recent months, Israeli authorities and Syria’s ruling Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) regime have been involved in direct talks aimed at reaching what is being referred to as a security agreement.

Israel has frequently carried out acts of aggression throughout Syrian territory since the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad's government late last year.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed his forces to move deeper into Syrian territory, aiming to secure several key strategic locations within the region.

Israel has expanded its occupation in Syria by asserting control over the buffer zone that separates the occupied Golan Heights from the rest of the Arab country, effectively breaching the terms of the 1974 disengagement agreement.

Experts argue that the HTS regime's lack of response, coupled with its moves towards normalization with Tel Aviv, has prompted Israel to expand its territorial occupation in Syria and escalate its airstrikes on the region.
