News - Yemen: Sadiq al-Nabulsi, professor of political science at the Lebanese University, stated that the Muslim Ummah is at a civilizational and intellectual crossroads, requiring a serious return to Qur’anic principles and a conscious understanding of jihad and martyrdom.

He warned that widespread confusion over allies and enemies, coupled with the culture of dependency on foreign powers, has weakened the Ummah’s willpower and its capacity to defend itself against aggressors.

“A revival of awareness is crucial to distinguish the friend from the enemy and to overcome the culture of passivity,” al-Nabulsi said during a special broadcast on Al-Masirah TV.

Reviving Sovereignty Through Qur’anic Awareness

Al-Nabulsi described Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi’s address as a strategic effort to rebuild the Ummah’s consciousness and political will. He emphasized that genuine sovereignty, stability, and independent decision-making are impossible without a clear understanding of regional threats and a return to the Qur’an as a guiding framework.

“The Ummah cannot achieve its needs for revival without knowing the enemy,” he said. “Only through clear awareness of surrounding dangers can freedom, stability, and dignity be restored.”

Clarifying the Concept of Jihad and Martyrdom

Highlighting the misrepresentation of jihad, al-Nabulsi stressed that it is not a narrow personal struggle, but a broad social and moral duty, linked to defending communities, reclaiming resources, and upholding security. He warned that failing to understand this principle leaves societies vulnerable to subjugation and exploitation.

For his part, Hamoud al-Ahnoumi, member of the Yemeni Scholars’ Association, echoed this view, describing martyrdom as a moral pinnacle and a conscious act of sacrifice for justice, the oppressed, and the defense of faith. He said such readiness strengthens collective resilience and ensures victory over adversaries, citing historical examples from the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) campaigns.

Yemen: A Model of Resistance

Abdullah al-Na‘mi, member of Ansarallah’s Political Bureau, highlighted Yemen’s strengthened position following previous rounds of conflict. He emphasized that Yemen’s steadfast stance in support of Palestine has produced regional influence and recognition, contrasting with Arab regimes that prioritize alignment with the United States over their own peoples’ rights.

Cultural activist Qais al-Tal added that Yemen embodies the practical fruits of jihad and martyrdom, stressing that decades of resistance have cultivated both popular awareness and military capability. He noted ongoing initiatives such as educational programs, military courses, and popular mobilization aimed at preparing for potential future confrontations.

“The upcoming round of confrontation will be decisive, and preparation must include all segments of society, from youth to elders,” al-Tal said.

Regional Analysts Highlight Pan-Ummah Implications

Lebanese researcher Ali Murad described Sayyed Abdulmalik’s speech as a call for mobilization across the Muslim world, warning that external powers and their regional collaborators are attempting to dilute the culture of jihad and resistance in education, media, and governance. He said the address sends a clear message to populations and governments, urging vigilance and principled action in the face of foreign schemes.

The statements come amid ongoing crises in Gaza, the West Bank, and broader regional tensions, including threats of increased normalization with the Israeli enemy and continued US-Israeli interventions.
