Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said in a statement on Monday that Israel has persisted in the “deliberate killing” of Palestinian civilians, even though a full month has passed since the truce was implemented on October 10.
“An average of eight Palestinians are killed daily under the ongoing comprehensive blockade on the Gaza Strip, alongside a policy of deliberate starvation ... denial of medical treatment for the wounded and sick, and the deliberate hindrance of humanitarian aid,” the group said.
The Geneva-based independent organization noted that the Israeli military continues to breach the ceasefire on a daily basis through aerial and artillery bombardments, as well as gunfire.
These violations are further compounded by the continuous destruction of homes and buildings, especially in the eastern neighborhoods of Khan Younis and Gaza City.
“These actions form part of a systematic approach to eroding the foundations of life in the Gaza Strip and denying its residents their most basic rights, in clear violation of international law,” the rights group added.
Euro-Med noted that 242 Palestinians, including 85 children, have lost their lives in Israeli attacks over the past month. This equates to an average of more than eight fatalities daily, alongside approximately 619 others wounded, resulting in over 20 injuries each day.
“This clearly shows that Israel has not ceased its policy of killing and systematically targeting Palestinians.”
The organization further highlighted that Israel is capitalizing on the lack of international monitoring to alter the geographical reality of Gaza.
Euro-Med cautioned that Israel is leveraging the ceasefire as a means to render regions under its direct military control unlivable, both now and in the future.
The rights organization stated that a deliberate policy of starvation persists in the besieged territory, accompanied by a blockade restricting the entry of nearly 70% of the aid mandated by the agreement.
“This maintains the population in a state of controlled, chronic hunger, without addressing its causes or severe health consequences, and without visibly displaying the acute physical signs of malnutrition.”
The statement emphasized that these actions are not isolated occurrences but represent a systematic pattern, reflecting a deliberate policy by the Israeli political and military leadership to exploit the ceasefire as a means to perpetuate genocide against the residents of Gaza.
Euro-Med stated that the ongoing silence of the international community, coupled with its inability to enforce accountability measures, effectively grants Israel the means to persist in actions amounting to genocide.
Israel’s assault on Gaza has killed at least 69,179 Palestinians since October 7, 2023, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. It has also displaced most of the population of 2.3 million, caused a hunger crisis and led to genocide.
