News - Middle East: The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has condemned the demolition of Palestinian homes in occupied al-Quds as a “new chapter” in the crimes of Israel aimed at Judaization of the city.

In a statement on Wednesday, Haroun Nasser al-Din, a member of the political bureau of Hamas, said these violations come as part of Israel’s policy of forced displacement that aims to uproot Palestinians from their land and erase the Arab and Islamic identity of al-Quds.

However, he said the policy of destruction and displacement “will not succeed in breaking the will of the people of al-Quds, but will rather increase their determination to stand firm and hold on to their homes and land, despite the restrictions and persecution they are subjected to.”

Israeli forces destroyed the home of Musa Badran, a Palestinian citizen, in the town of Silwan, south of al-Aqsa Mosque, on Wednesday, amid a rise in Israel’s demolitions in al-Quds.

The house is located in an area that experiences ongoing pressure from Israeli authorities, who regularly issue demolition orders under the pretext of lacking a building permit.

Nasser al-Din, who is also the head of the movement’s al-Quds affairs office, also warned of the “grave situation” in al-Quds, amid frequent Israeli raids by Israeli settlers, backed by the regime’s forces, on al-Aqsa Mosque.

He urged the Arab and Muslim nations and free people across the world to take urgent action to stop these violations and protect the sanctities.

Nasser al-Din also called on the Palestinian people to strengthen their presence in al-Quds and “activate” all forms of popular and field resistance to Israeli plots.

Israel hands over new demolition orders to Palestinians in al-Quds

Meanwhile, the Israeli anti-settlement group Peace Now said the regime plans to demolish two apartment buildings that house dozens of Palestinian families and seize nearly 32 acres of agricultural land in the village of Qalandiya, north of the occupied East al-Quds, to construct a waste incineration plant serving the occupying entity.

According to the report, residents of homes and agricultural lands in Qalandiya have been notified by Israeli authorities about the upcoming demolition and eviction in late November to facilitate the construction of a waste treatment and energy recovery facility.

“The government’s appetite for annexation and dispossession knows no bounds. As if there were no other place in the Jerusalem [al-Quds] area to build a waste facility besides the few remaining (acres) left to Qalandiya’s residents after decades of expropriations and fences,” Peace Now said.

“This would constitute a blatant violation of international law and basic moral principles to expel residents living under occupation for the sake of a plant serving the occupying power,” the advocacy group added.

Israel routinely demolishes Palestinian houses in the occupied West Bank and East al-Quds, claiming that the structures have been built without the so-called permits, which are almost impossible to obtain. They also sometimes order Palestinian owners to demolish their own houses or pay the costs of the demolition if they do not.

More than 623 homes and structures have been destroyed in the West Bank, including al-Quds, since the beginning of 2025.
