Experts Warn of Evolving Covert Threats as Saudi-Israeli Intelligence Cooperation

News - Yemen: Security experts are highlighting an increased reliance on intelligence operations targeting Yemen and the broader "Axis of Resistance," suggesting a strategic pivot after the failure to achieve decisive military victories.

In televised remarks, Nizar Nizal, an expert on Israeli affairs, analyzed the recent exposure of the spy ring in Yemen. He stated that the operation sheds light on an intelligence model where the Israeli enemy, lacking extensive direct assets within Yemen, relies on cooperation with specific Arab states, notably Saudi Arabia. This cooperation, he argued, provides a "legitimate cover" for intelligence gathering, funneling information to a joint operations room shared by U.S. and Israeli agencies.

"The Israeli enemy does not possess wide-ranging capabilities inside Yemen to carry out direct operations," Nizal stated, explaining why the Israeli enemy rarely claims direct targeting of prominent Yemeni military figures. He suggested that Saudi Arabia acts as a critical façade, facilitating espionage in a region where direct Israeli collaboration is politically untenable.

Echoing this analysis, strategic affairs expert Mohamed Hazima described the conflict as having evolved beyond a military confrontation into a clash of strategic projects. "The recourse to espionage networks inside Yemen reveals the scale of the external bet on secret work after the collapse of wagers on military resolution in the field," he said.

Hazima warned that intelligence warfare represents the most dangerous phase of the conflict, as it operates in a non-visible battlefield aimed at internal societal fragmentation. He affirmed that intelligence agencies exploit economic and social hardships to recruit assets, operating through a fixed operational pattern managed from joint intelligence rooms involving Saudi officers and Western operatives.

These expert assessments portray Saudi Arabia not as an independent actor, but as a "functional arm" of a broader Western-led project in the region. The reports underscore the complex and shadowy nature of the ongoing regional power struggle, where overt warfare has given way to less visible but potentially more insidious forms of conflict. The Saudi and Israeli governments have consistently denied such allegations of covert cooperation.

Following the formal cessation of the nine-year US-Saudi aggression in Yemen, regional analysts and Yemeni officials have raised concerns about a shift in strategy, emphasizing that Riyadh, in coordination with US and Israeli intelligence, is now pursuing its objectives through extensive covert operations.
