News - Yemen: Living pressures on residents in the city of Aden continue to intensify, as local markets face visible disruption and families report mounting complaints over soaring prices and their inability to keep up with rapidly rising daily living costs.

With no effective measures in place to regulate markets, concerns are growing among residents that the situation will continue unchecked, allowing price instability to deepen.

Over recent days, Aden’s markets have recorded successive and noticeable increases in the prices of food and consumer goods, coinciding with a sharp decline in purchasing power and continued volatility in the local currency exchange rate.

Prices of basic commodities and medicine rose by an estimated 15–20 percent in less than a week, while vegetables and fruits experienced even sharper surges — placing additional strain on low-income households.

This economic deterioration has had a direct and profound impact on people’s livelihoods, fueling widespread frustration as families struggle to meet their essential needs.

Economic experts note that the ongoing economic decline, coupled with persistent political tensions, has created an unstable environment that continues to push the cost of goods and services upward.

Residents are calling on the mercenary government aligned with the aggression coalition to intervene urgently to curb price chaos, tighten oversight on traders, and implement measures that alleviate the unprecedented financial pressure on consumers. 

Locals warn that ignoring this crisis risks further worsening their already difficult living conditions in Aden.

Since the collapse of key economic services in the occupied southern provinces, Aden has faced accelerating financial instability marked by currency depreciation, fuel shortages, and weakened state oversight. 

Over recent months, Aden has repeatedly witnessed price spikes, disruptions in public services, and growing public discontent. The worsening economic environment has amplified fears that the city may slide into deeper financial chaos unless decisive corrective measures are taken.
