In a post on his X account, Amer stated that Muscat continues to host ongoing rounds of negotiations between the delegation of the government in Sana'a and the Saudi-backed party’s delegation, under United Nations sponsorship and with direct oversight from the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg.
Citing a source involved in the talks, Amer said discussions are progressing in a constructive spirit, with emerging indicators that could open the way for a real breakthrough in one of the most sensitive humanitarian files.
The negotiations form part of UN-led efforts to advance the prisoners' issue as a priority humanitarian track within Yemen’s peace process. The file has witnessed intermittent rounds of talks over recent years, resulting in limited exchange agreements, amid hopes that the current negotiations will pave the way for a broader deal that would ease the suffering of thousands of prisoners and their families.
