December 15 Over Nine Years: 36 Killed and Wounded, Infrastructure Destroyed

News – Yemen: Yemeni sources have documented a series of deadly attacks carried out by the Saudi-US aggression on December 15 across multiple years, leaving dozens of civilians killed or wounded and causing extensive destruction to civilian infrastructure in Sana’a and Sa’adah provinces.

According to official records, aggression forces conducted deliberate airstrikes and attacks on December 15 in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2021, targeting civilians, civilian objects, and public facilities in war crimes and acts of collective punishment.

The documented attacks resulted in at least 26 civilians killed and 10 others wounded, most of them children, women, shoppers, photographers, and paramedics. Dozens of livestock were also killed, while widespread damage was inflicted on homes, markets, farms, health facilities, service institutions, vehicles, and farmlands.

The strikes spread panic among women and children, deprived many families of their sole breadwinners, destroyed sources of livelihood and shelters, and further worsened already dire humanitarian conditions. Yemeni officials noted that some attacks appeared aimed at preventing documentation of the crimes, producing scenes described as shocking to human conscience.

On December 15, 2015, aggression warplanes bombed civilian properties in several areas of Baqim district in Sa’adah, while artillery shelling struck the Ghafira area, killing a child, damaging homes, and terrorizing residents.

On December 15, 2016, further airstrikes targeted Al-Namsa Bridge, farms, and civilian properties in the Al-Jamla area of Majz district in Sa’adah, causing extensive destruction.

On December 15, 2017, coalition aircraft carried out three separate attacks using airstrikes and cluster munitions on a popular market, homes, and civilian property in the districts of Munabbih, Al-Zahir, and Sahar in Sa’adah. These attacks killed 25 civilians and wounded 10 others.

In Munabbih district, airstrikes hit Al-Sheikh Market, shoppers’ vehicles, ambulances, and a photographer documenting the scene, killing 23 people and injuring six others, and causing severe damage to commercial property.

In Al-Zahir district, airstrikes struck the home of citizen Yahya Al-Qaisi in the Walbah area, killing two women and wounding a third, destroying the house, killing livestock, and forcing residents to flee.

In Sahar district, a cluster bomblet left behind from earlier coalition attacks exploded in the Bani Mu’adh area, wounding three civilians and spreading fear due to the continued presence of unexploded ordnance near homes, farms, and roads.

On December 15, 2021, coalition warplanes again targeted civilian infrastructure in Sana’a, striking Al-Yateem Hospital and the Technical Training Institute affiliated with the Ministry of Electricity and Energy. The attacks caused severe damage to medical and educational facilities, as well as nearby mosques, schools, homes, and shops.Since the start of the Saudi-US aggression on Yemen in 2015, repeated airstrikes and the use of banned or controversial weapons, including cluster munitions, have drawn widespread condemnation. Yemeni authorities stress that these crimes do not expire with time and continue to demand accountability, reconstruction, compensation, and an end to the suffering caused by nearly nine years of aggression.
