News - Yemen: Yemeni political parties and factions have announced their support for a call by Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi for “broad, organized popular action” in response to insults against the Holy Qur’an, reaffirming a responsible stance in defending religious constants and human dignity.

In a statement, the Alliance of Political Parties Opposed to the Aggression strongly condemned actions it said were carried out by extremist political circles in the United States that involved desecration of the Qur’an. The alliance described the acts as “hostile behavior targeting Islam, its values, and symbols,” arguing that they form part of a comprehensive campaign that extends beyond military aggression to include attacks on sacred beliefs, thought, identity, and culture.

The statement called on the Yemeni people and “free people across the nation” to confront these campaigns by strengthening their connection to the Qur’an, intensifying awareness and media efforts, expanding economic boycott measures, and actively participating in peaceful popular activities to express a clear stance against the enemies of the nation and their destructive projects.

The alliance further said the provocative actions come within the broader context of the ongoing aggression led by the United States and its allies, foremost among them the Israeli enemy, against the peoples of the Islamic world. It pointed in particular to the situation in Palestine, citing killings, siege, displacement, and violations of holy sites, which it said are occurring amid international silence and political and media encouragement from dominant global powers.

The stance of Yemeni political forces follows recent statements by the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi, who strongly condemned a new act of Qur’an desecration carried out by a US election candidate. Against this backdrop, Sayyed Abdulmalik called for wide-ranging, organized popular action—beginning in universities and schools and culminating in mass demonstrations—to reaffirm Yemen’s religious identity, reject US and Israeli enemy hostility toward the Holy Qur’an, and express continued support for the Palestinian people and resistance to any plots targeting Yemen and the Ummah.
