Al-Buhaisi offered an in-depth assessment of the nature and implications of such
News - Yemen:
Political writer and researcher Mohammed Al-Buhaisi has said that the insult to the Holy Qur’an by a US election candidate represents a clear manifestation of an accumulated hostile trajectory targeting Islam and its sanctities within an open civilizational war, fueled by international silence and official complacency in the Islamic world.
acts, arguing that recent developments increasingly expose moral and ethical decline in Western societies—not only among extremist individuals, but within political elites and decision-making circles.
He referred to the recent statement issued by Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi, saying it articulated the genuine position of the nation and underscored that such insults are not marginal issues that can be overlooked, but serious violations that require a clear and responsible response due to their direct targeting of religious identity and belief.
Al-Buhaisi said attempts to discredit Qur’anic experiences—most notably the Qur’anic Path in Yemen—fall within the same hostile context, as such movements, he argued, represent a conscious model aligned with Allah, His Messenger, and His Book, while rejecting Western dominance and Zionist dictates. This, he said, makes them a constant target of defamation and incitement campaigns.
He stressed that the challenges facing the Muslim world are no longer limited to political disputes or conflicts of interest, but amount to a comprehensive existential and civilizational war aimed at sanctities, awareness, and identity, foremost among them the Holy Qur’an and Al-Aqsa Mosque, which he said faces daily violations amid troubling international and Arab silence.
Al-Buhaisi warned that the religious and moral responsibility to defend sanctities does not diminish regardless of challenges, cautioning that becoming accustomed to such offenses or responding with indifference poses a serious threat to faith and collective consciousness, while emboldening perpetrators to continue.
He noted that the gravity of the latest offense lies in the fact that the individual responsible is not an isolated figure outside the political sphere, but a candidate with potential access to senior levels of US decision-making, possibly even the presidency, which he said reflects the depth of institutionalized hostility within Western political structures.
According to Al-Buhaisi, these incidents are not new in essence but represent a historical extension of an old ideological conflict, rooted in a continuous Western antagonism toward the divine message and the Qur’an, linked to crusader history and the modern Zionist project.
He added that attacks on Islamic sanctities have formed a continuous pattern since the early days of Islam, but in the modern era have become more blatant and public, particularly in the US and Western Europe, where insults to sacred symbols have, he said, been turned into political and media tools under the guise of false freedom of expression and a systematic hate discourse.
Al-Buhaisi pointed out that the near-exclusive focus of such offenses on Islam—without comparable actions against other religions—demonstrates that the issue is not about defending free speech, but about targeting a specific faith, in line with Qur’anic warnings about ongoing efforts to turn Muslims away from their religion.
He sharply criticized silence and weakness in the Islamic world, arguing that the absence of serious and effective responses has been the primary factor encouraging the repetition of such acts and their exploitation as political leverage and tools of internal competition in Western societies.
He further stressed that some Arab and Islamic governments are not merely passive observers, but indirectly participate in this confrontation by pursuing dissenting voices, discrediting religious figures, constraining Qur’anic revival projects, and aligning with Western narratives that justify insults to Islamic sanctities.
Al-Buhaisi concluded by calling for comprehensive vigilance, intellectual and faith-based awakening, and practical stances that restore the nation’s standing and curb an escalating course of aggression, warning that continued silence risks becoming implicit complicity in the targeting of religion and sacred values.
Recent Qur’an desecrations by US figures have escalated tensions with the Muslim world and the Zionist enemy. Religious leaders warn these acts are deliberate provocations aimed at undermining Islamic unity and morale. Scholars in Yemen and across the Arab world stress that defending the Qur’an is both a spiritual and political duty, requiring public awareness, education, and active resistance to protect the dignity of the Ummah.
