Mass Rally at Sana'a University Condemns US–Zionist Insults to Qur’an

News - Yemen: A large-scale rally was held on Wednesday at Sana'a University, where academics and students gathered to denounce US and Zionist insults against the Holy Qur’an, in an event organized at Gaza Square on campus.

Participants chanted slogans condemning the desecration of the Qur’an and raised images symbolizing the Holy Book held aloft in their hands. Chants included denunciations of US policies and calls for the Ummah to rise in defense of the Qur’an, affirming steadfastness against American aggression and loyalty to Islamic sanctities. The rally opened with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and the national anthem, followed by religious anthems dedicated to the occasion.

In a speech, the President of Sana'a University praised the mobilization of academics, students, and administrative staff, describing it as an expression of anger for the sake of Allah and His Holy Book. He stressed that the Qur’an represents the driving force of the Ummah and the essence of its struggle, commending Sana'a University’s leading role in adopting firm and principled positions against repeated insults to Islamic sanctities.

A statement issued by the rally reaffirmed Sana'a University’s categorical rejection of the US and Zionist insult to the Qur’an. It said the anger and condemnation expressed by the university’s students and academics form part of the broader stance of the Yemeni people, noting that hostility toward the Qur’an is not an isolated act but part of an organized and systematic context reflected in crimes against the Palestinian people and ongoing violations of Islamic sanctities.

The statement announced a conscious and firm mobilization by Sana'a University to confront the “soft war” targeting Islamic identity, calling for an expanded boycott of US and Zionist products. It further emphasized that the Yemeni people are prepared for the next stage of confrontation with the enemy on military, economic, cultural, social, and security fronts.

The rally concluded with a call to peoples and elites—particularly universities across the Islamic world—to openly express rejection of these insults and to strengthen their attachment to the Holy Qur’an. The statement warned that silence and complacency in the face of such crimes constitute a serious betrayal of the Ummah’s dignity and faith.

The rally follows recent statements by the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi, who strongly condemned a new act of Qur’an desecration carried out by a US election candidate. Against this backdrop, Sayyed Abdulmalik called for wide-ranging, organized popular action—beginning in universities and schools and culminating in mass demonstrations—to reaffirm Yemen’s religious identity, reject US and Israeli enemy hostility toward the Holy Qur’an, and express continued support for the Palestinian people and resistance to any plots targeting Yemen and the Ummah.
