In remarks to Almasirah TV, al-Dailami said the project has ignored international proposals calling for the criminalization of religious hatred and insults to religions, noting that the US administration has positioned itself above international law by obstructing treaties and conventions governing relations among states and peoples, particularly those that safeguard respect for religions and human dignity.
He added that US measures have gone beyond legal policies to include support for intellectual and cultural extremism, through the dissemination of inciting messages and practices intended to harm Islam and undermine its moral authority. Al-Dailami stressed that such efforts have collided with divine protection of the Holy Qur’an, which has remained steadfast in the face of repeated attacks.
Al-Dailami argued that official and popular silence across much of the Arab and Islamic world has contributed to the spread of these insults, allowing political entities and extremist figures to exploit an ethical vacuum, while complicit regimes abandoned their responsibility to protect Islamic sanctities.
He warned that the danger extends beyond symbolic attacks on the Qur’an to broader efforts aimed at deforming Islam’s image, entrenching religious phobia, and falsely associating the faith with violence, the marginalization of women, and hostility to human values—seeking to dominate societies and collective consciousness.
Al-Dailami said Yemen’s experience has constituted a practical counterreaction to this conspiracy, as the Yemeni people demonstrated commitment to the Qur’an through mass rallies and marches, alongside strengthened educational, cultural, and media efforts—moves that, he said, alarmed the aggressing powers and prompted attempts to obstruct such activities.
He called on Arab and Islamic peoples to take immediate, tangible action to confront the campaign and safeguard identity and sanctities, warning that continued silence would pose grave risks to Islam, national identities, and the future of the Ummah.
Yemen Emerges as the Leading Qur’anic Voice in Defending Sanctities
Algerian writer and academic Nour al-Din Abu Yahya said the mass public mobilization witnessed across Yemen represents an exceptional and unprecedented stance in defense of the Holy Qur’an, reflecting deep faith-based awareness that has placed Yemen at the forefront of confronting insults to Islamic sanctities.
Speaking on Almasirah TV, Abu Yahya said the offense against the Qur’an is part of a recurring pattern encouraged by complicit and complacent Arab regimes that have provided political and moral cover for the US and the Israeli enemy to violate Islamic sanctities.
He stressed that genuine belonging to the Qur’an is demonstrated not through slogans but through practical adherence to its teachings and the defense of the oppressed, noting that the Yemeni people have proven this commitment through their presence in public squares and their clear positions.
Abu Yahya warned of the danger posed by narratives seeking to undermine or deny the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, describing them as a direct extension of the Judaization project and evidence of deep political and religious deviation among certain regimes and affiliated voices.
He said official Arab and Islamic silence has fueled further assaults on sanctities, enabling hegemonic powers to persist in aggressive policies, while Yemen’s stance—rooted in Qur’anic values of supporting the oppressed and rejecting submission—stood in stark contrast.
Abu Yahya added that Western standards of so-called freedom of expression have collapsed when tested against the rights of peoples, having been used to justify insults to the sanctities of more than two billion Muslims while suppressing voices supportive of Gaza and Palestine.
He concluded that recent events marked a historic moment of distinction, affirming Yemen’s position as a free Qur’anic voice at a time of widespread silence.
The statements come amid a wave of mass demonstrations and official condemnations in Yemen following repeated incidents of Qur’an desecration linked to US political figures, alongside continued Israeli aggression in Gaza and violations of Islamic holy sites. Yemeni officials, scholars, and commentators say these provocations are part of a broader US–Zionist campaign targeting Islamic identity, prompting calls for sustained popular mobilization, cultural and educational action, and coordinated responses across the Islamic world to deter further abuses and defend religious sanctities.
