Bin Habtoor: Developments in Southern, Eastern Provinces Tactics to Prepare Ground for US, Israeli Enemy

News – Yemen Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, said that the war on Yemen has continued without interruption since 2015, stressing that it has only changed in form and tactics rather than coming to an end.

He explained that what is taking place in Yemen’s southern and eastern provinces represents an attempt to conceal the failure of the military campaign launched in 2015. Bin Habtoor noted that Saudi Arabia and the UAE have played complementary roles, arguing that the Saudi military presence paves the way for US and British involvement, while Emirati deployments in Aden and Yemeni islands prepare the ground for influence by the Israeli enemy.

Bin Habtoor emphasized that despite shifting narratives and tactics in areas under Saudi or Emirati control, the core reality remains one of occupation and aggression that has persisted since March 26, 2015. He pointed out that Yemen continues to suffer from air, land, and sea blockades, the closure of airports, and restrictions on revenues, while Sana’a has nevertheless maintained relative stability in living conditions, security, and social cohesion.

He added that, according to his assessment, US and Israeli enemy officials have privately expressed frustration toward Riyadh and Abu Dhabi over their failure to destabilize Sana’a despite years of blockade and economic pressure. Bin Habtoor stressed that Yemen’s revolutionary spirit, tribal cohesion, and cultural activity have continued throughout the war.

The senior official described Saudi and Emirati forces as unsuccessful in administering the areas under their control, saying their local allies lack both effective solutions and genuine intent to address the needs of citizens in Aden and other occupied regions.

On historical and political issues, bin Habtoor said Saudi Arabia has long held political and social anxieties toward Yemen. He noted that Riyadh failed to recognize South Yemen after independence and delayed recognition of the Republic of Yemen until the 1970s, in addition to seizing border territories in earlier periods.

Reviewing British colonial rule, bin Habtoor said Britain focused almost exclusively on the ports of Aden and Mukalla while neglecting rural areas and comprehensive development. He added that colonial authorities prioritized local sultans, limited military forces, and provided minimal public services, particularly in education outside major cities.

Yemen has been facing aggression since March 2015, when a Saudi-led coalition, backed by the US and other allies, launched a military intervention, resulting in severe humanitarian and economic repercussions that continue to affect civilian life.
