Israeli Enemy Continues Ceasefire Violations in Lebanon as Political, Military Tracks Advance

News - Middle East: The Israeli enemy continues to violate the ongoing ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, conducting a series of attacks on Friday.

A correspondent for Almasirah TV in Beirut reported on Saturday that Israeli forces conducted a series of actions the previous day, including intensive machine-gun fire directed towards the outskirts of several southern Lebanese villages near the border, such as Al-Farshouba and Aita al-Shaab.

The Israeli enemy forces also dropped stun grenades on the towns of Al-Jibbayn and Naqoura and conducted intensive drone overflights across wide areas of southern Lebanon, the southern suburbs of Beirut, and parts of the Bekaa Valley.

On the political track, the "Mechanism" committee—tasked with the technical follow-up of the ceasefire—reportedly held its last meeting of the year. For the second time, it included Lebanese civilian representatives, signaling Lebanon's elevation of its representation from a technical to a political level, as announced by the Lebanese presidency. Lebanese President Najib Mikati later met with the head of the Lebanese negotiating delegation, emphasizing the top priorities of returning displaced persons to their villages and beginning immediate reconstruction before any discussion of other technical details.

Separately, on the military and security front, Lebanese Army Commander General Joseph Aoun conducted an official visit to Paris two days prior. He met with US envoy Morgan Ortagus, French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian, and a Saudi representative in a tripartite meeting that discussed Lebanese developments and external support for the military institution.

These meetings reportedly concluded with preparations to hold an international conference in support of the Lebanese Army, scheduled for next February. This comes as Lebanon faces severe economic and security pressures, compounded by the persistent of the Israeli hostilities that threaten the country's stability.

Following the outbreak of war in Gaza, Hezbollah and the Israeli military have engaged in near-daily cross-border exchanges of fire, marking the most serious Israeli aggression on Lebanon since their 2006 war. A fragile, unannounced understanding has contained but not halted the aggression.
