Ansarullah: Pretexts of 'Restoring Legitimacy' Used to Justify a Decade of Aggression Have Collapsed

News - Yemen: Member of the Political Bureau of Ansarullah, Mohammed al-Farah, said Saudi Arabia’s recent stance toward the so-called Southern Transitional Council has nothing to do with Yemen’s unity, but is instead driven by Riyadh’s ambitions to control the wealth of Hadramout, Al-Mahrah, and other eastern regions. He added that the UAE likewise has no interest in preserving Yemen’s unity.

In a post on his X account, al-Farah said all parties involved in the occupied areas are effectively complicit in tearing Yemen apart, competing to divide influence and resources through local tools at the expense of the Yemeni people’s suffering and the fragmentation of the social fabric.

He stressed that developments in the occupied regions do not constitute an internal conflict, but are the direct result of foreign occupation and intervention aimed at weakening Yemen and preventing the emergence of a unified state with an independent national decision.

Al-Farah said that all pretexts of “restoring legitimacy,” which were used to justify the aggression against Yemen for more than ten years, have now collapsed and been fully exposed. He added that the only remaining hope lies with free Yemenis in both the north and south who reject occupation and foreign tutelage.

He concluded that Yemen’s unity, the expulsion of occupying forces, and the restoration of an independent Yemeni decision represent the only path to protecting land and wealth and building a free, sovereign state—one not run from abroad, not fragmented in the name of interests and power-sharing, and never turned into an arena for Zionist and American influence.

Al-Farah’s remarks come amid escalating Saudi–Emirati tensions in Hadramout. A report by The Guardian revealed that Saudi Arabia warned the UAE-backed STC to withdraw from eastern Yemen, threatening airstrikes if it refused. Riyadh has reportedly deployed nearly 20,000 loyal fighters to the province and carried out warning air raids, alongside a ground advance by the Saudi-backed “Nation’s Shield” forces into strategic areas. Analysts say these developments expose the collapse of the “restoring legitimacy” narrative and highlight a struggle over influence and resources rather than Yemen’s unity.
