Worsening Collapses, Deepening Humanitarian Tragedy in Gaza Amid Zionist Aggression

News - Middle East: Almasirah correspondent Doaa Rouqa reported that humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip are deteriorating rapidly and dangerously amid the ongoing Zionist aggression and its catastrophic impact on housing and daily life, stressing that the scale of suffering in Gaza now exceeds that in other Palestinian areas and even regional arenas.

Speaking on Sunday morning, Rouqa said Gaza is facing grave, compounding hardships day after day. She cited a tragic incident in recent hours in which several floors of a house belonging to the Labad family collapsed in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, due to the structural fragility of buildings already damaged by the Zionist aggression. The situation was worsened by winter weather systems that exposed the extent of destruction inflicted on residential units.

Rouqa said family members had returned to the remnants of their destroyed home due to the lack of alternatives, before upper floors collapsed, leaving several people missing under the rubble. Civil defense and ambulance teams have been working continuously since yesterday to search for the missing and recover victims.

She added that this was not an isolated incident, noting that multiple homes collapsed in Sheikh Radwan, as well as in Tal al-Hawa in southwestern Gaza City, the Al-Nasr neighborhood, and eastern areas of the city—underscoring the danger facing thousands of families sheltering in partially destroyed, collapse-prone buildings.

On the humanitarian front, Rouqa said living conditions across the Strip are extremely harsh, as the Zionist enemy has reneged on commitments related to the first phase of the ceasefire agreement. Essential shelter supplies—including tents, caravans, and tarpaulins—have yet to enter Gaza, alongside acute shortages of basic necessities amid cold winter conditions, leaving residents without adequate clothing or blankets.

She noted that despite claims of a relative easing of famine conditions, field realities confirm the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe, with Gaza hospitals recording daily deaths linked to starvation and malnutrition, compounded by severe shortages of medicines for chronic disease patients.

Rouqa said the Zionist enemy continues to pursue a policy of engineered starvation. After previously imposing direct hunger, it now systematically controls the type and quantity of aid allowed into Gaza, barring many essential food items long denied to residents, including poultry, fish, fruits, and vegetables.

She also pointed out that the Zionist enemy maintains control over vast agricultural areas after destroying and bulldozing them, and has established the so-called “yellow line” along the eastern border from southern to northern Gaza—seizing large tracts of farmland that once served as the Strip’s primary food basket.

These developments unfold amid the continued Zionist aggression and suffocating siege on Gaza, against a backdrop of international silence and UN inability to compel the enemy to meet its humanitarian and legal obligations. As a result, the humanitarian situation in Gaza is expected to further deteriorate, confirming that the suffering of the Palestinian people is the direct outcome of systematic aggression and policies of starvation and destruction targeting people, land, and life.

Gaza has endured prolonged Zionist aggression marked by extensive destruction of civilian infrastructure, mass displacement, and a comprehensive blockade restricting food, fuel, medicine, and shelter materials. Humanitarian agencies warn that damaged housing, winter conditions, and controlled aid access are creating lethal conditions for civilians, while international mechanisms have failed to enforce compliance with humanitarian law or ensure sustained, adequate relief to the besieged population.
