News - Yemen: The Yemeni community in Germany strongly condemned and denounced the deliberate and public desecration of a copy of the Holy Qur’an by a US Senate candidate, considering it as a systematic and provocative act targeting Muslim sanctities.

In a statement, the community said the act was used as a campaign tool and constituted a blatant hostile attack on the religious and human dignity of Muslims. 

It confirmed this behavior as a fully-fledged hate and racist crime that requires legal accountability, violating international norms, including social coexistence, global peace, and mutual respect among nations and religions.

The Yemeni community emphasized that such hostile and racist acts do not target Muslims alone but undermine universal human values and the legacy of all prophets.

They called the incident a direct assault on the Qur’an, the sacred scripture that confirms previous revelations and upholds justice, mercy, freedom, equality, and societal stability. 

The statement stressed that desecrating religious texts cannot be justified under freedom of expression and constitutes incitement to religious hatred under international law, including the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and Article 20 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

The community urged the international community to enact laws criminalizing attacks on the Qur’an and other religious sanctities, called on the United Nations to condemn such acts, and demanded that US authorities publicly denounce the desecration and pursue legal accountability for those responsible.

Recent years have seen repeated incidents of insults against Islamic sanctities in Western countries, often carried out under political and legal cover and justified under the pretext of freedom of expression. These provocations coincide with the Zionist entity’s escalation of systematic violations against Islamic holy sites, particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque, and its continued aggression against the Palestinian people. 

Across the Muslim world, these developments are widely viewed as part of a coordinated hostile campaign targeting Islamic identity, sacred symbols, and the unity of the Ummah, fueling widespread popular anger and calls for unified political, religious, and popular responses.
