December 25 Over Nine Years: 18 Killed and Wounded in Saudi-American Airstrikes on Yemen

News - Yemen: On December 25 across the years 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, the Saudi-American aggression continued to commit documented war crimes and acts of mass killing in Yemen, targeting civilians in their homes and farms across the governorates of Sana’a, Hajjah, Marib, and Al-Baidha.

According to documented records, the attacks left 12 martyrs from a single family and six wounded, most of them women and children. The strikes also caused widespread destruction of homes and property, damage to memorial sites, contamination of farmland with cluster munitions, terror among residents, waves of displacement, and the deepening of civilian suffering—among a fraction of the crimes recorded during the war.

December 25, 2015 – Hajjah

The Saudi-American aggression used internationally banned cluster munitions on farms in Mustaba District, rendering agricultural land deadly and depriving residents of safe access to their livelihoods. Locals warned of the ongoing danger posed to children, women, and farmers, calling on the United Nations to fulfill its legal and humanitarian responsibilities.

December 25, 2016 – Marib

Mercenaries affiliated with the Saudi-American aggression targeted civilian homes and property in Tatlas area, Sirwah District, causing extensive damage, displacement, and fear among women and children, as residential neighborhoods were turned into military targets.

December 25, 2017 – Sana’a

An airstrike hit the home of Ali Mohammed Al-Raimi, caretaker of the Egyptian Memorial in the Asr area of Ma’een District, killing 12 members of one family and wounding four others, including women and children. The house was completely destroyed. The victims were later laid to rest at the Martyrs’ Cemetery amid large funeral processions and public condemnation, with calls for accountability and assurances that such crimes will not lapse with time.

December 25, 2018 – Al-Baidha

Saudi-American aggression mercenaries fired live ammunition at civilian homes in Al-Dhahrah area, Al-Qurayshiyah District, wounding a woman and a child and spreading panic among residents.
Rights groups and local communities affirm that the targeting of women, children, and civilian homes constitutes one of thousands of war crimes committed over nine years, amid continued international inaction to end the aggression, lift the blockade, and hold those responsible accountable for war crimes and acts of genocide against civilians and civilian objects.

For more than nine years, the Saudi-American aggression has pursued a war on Yemen characterized by systematic targeting of civilians and civilian objects, in violation of international humanitarian law. Despite mounting evidence of war crimes, including mass civilian casualties and the use of banned weapons, the aggression continues under international cover, while Yemen’s civilian population endures ongoing suffering, displacement, and deprivation.
