Military Expert: Confrontation With US, Israeli Enemy Inevitable, Yemen Holds Strategic Pressure Cards

News – Yemen: Military expert Brig. Gen. Mujib Shamsan said the outcome of previous confrontations with the US and the Israeli enemy has become a key determinant of the current landscape, stressing that Washington suffered a clear failure and a severe blow in the Red Sea that cannot be overlooked or forgotten. He noted that repeated US acknowledgments and statements reflect the scale of the threat Sana’a now poses to the Israeli enemy’s regional project.

Speaking in remarks aired on Al-Masirah TV, Shamsan said political and military reports point to a reordering of US priorities, with the region being reassessed and a shift toward indirect approaches through regional tools and external balances. He emphasized that Yemen has moved to the forefront of confrontation as the most serious threat.

He explained that recent US moves include activating the Saudi and Emirati roles, engaging Red Sea littoral states, and opening strategic points of attrition in the occupied southern governorates, within a clear US–Zionist plan to confront Yemen and break the deterrence equation imposed by Sana’a.

Shamsan said a renewed confrontation with Yemen would signal the failure of direct US engagement and a turn toward regional proxies. He stressed that Sana’a possesses two highly significant pressure cards: control over maritime passages and their closure to US and British traffic, and the ability to target energy supplies—both of which would impose a heavy burden on the US and Western European states.

He added that Washington is now seriously seeking alternatives to Gulf energy supplies in anticipation of a return to confrontation with Sana’a, which he described as inevitable given the existential nature of the threat Yemen represents today.

Shamsan noted that US moves in Nigeria, Venezuela, and northern, southern, and eastern Syria share a single common factor—oil—underscoring, he said, the true essence and drivers of the conflict. He argued that all indicators point to preparations for a forthcoming confrontation.

He stressed that the current phase requires the highest levels of readiness and preparedness, alongside continued mobilization at both official and popular levels—militarily and in mass activities—highlighting training and qualification programs, including Al-Aqsa Flood courses, across institutions and governorates.

Shamsan said the Leader of the Revolution has repeatedly emphasized raising readiness, training, and vigilance against enemy movements during the most dangerous phase of the confrontation. He added that the enemy is actively reorganizing its military doctrine, seeking vulnerabilities and bolstering strengths, including attempts to find alternatives to the air bridge.

He concluded that the confrontation necessitates comprehensive preparedness across all domains—from military manufacturing and qualitative and quantitative development to training and qualification—alongside a robust media role to counter psychological and information warfare and raise public awareness of US–Zionist schemes and objectives. He warned that the phase is decisive and perilous, requiring heightened vigilance, responsibility, and sustained effort, adding that de-escalation should be used as a valuable opportunity to build capabilities and readiness for a pivotal battle against an adversary with significant resources and relentless activity.

Since the escalation of the war on Gaza, Yemen has linked its military posture to support operations for Palestine and Al-Quds, expanding activity in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea and declaring measures affecting maritime traffic tied to the Israeli enemy and its allies. These steps prompted heightened US and allied deployments to protect Israeli interests but then suffered a clear failure.
