News - Yemen: The Executive Center for Mine Action destroyed 300 anti-vehicle mines on Tuesday in Yemen’s western province of Hodeidah, as part of ongoing efforts to clear the governorate of hazardous remnants of the US-Saudi aggression.

Colonel Yahya Sabr, Director of the Executive Center for Mine Action in Hodeidah, said the operation falls within the center’s broader activities, which include surveying, clearance, and inspection.

He noted that the destruction was carried out under a continuing campaign to remove explosive remnants of the aggression from several districts across the province, including Al-Hali District.

Sabr warned that unexploded ordnance and landmines remain a serious threat to civilians, having caused casualties among the population, and stressed that the center’s teams continue to carry out their humanitarian and national duties despite significant challenges.

He added that these efforts aim to reduce risks to civilians, secure residential and agricultural areas, and enhance public safety. The official urged citizens to cooperate with clearance teams by reporting any suspicious objects or remnants of war and to avoid approaching them to ensure their safety.

Hodeidah has been one of the Yemeni provinces most heavily contaminated with landmines and explosive remnants of the aggression, which were planted indiscriminately across residential neighborhoods, agricultural lands, roads, and coastal areas. 

These remnants continue to claim civilian lives, impede the return of displaced families, and obstruct farming and livelihood activities, deepening the humanitarian suffering in the governorate. 

Despite repeated warnings by local authorities and humanitarian bodies, the danger persists, making mine-clearance operations a critical necessity to protect civilians, restore normal life, and mitigate the long-term impacts of the aggression on public safety and development.
