US Moves to Reframe Confrontation in Yemen, Aiming to Distract Sana’a From Wider Regional Battle

News – Yemen: Political figures in Yemen say the United States is working to recalibrate the confrontation in Yemen in a manner that serves its own interests and those of the Zionist enemy, while seeking to preoccupy Sana’a and limit its role in the broader regional confrontation, particularly following Yemen’s declared support for the Al-Aqsa Flood battle.

Assistant Secretary-General of the Yemeni People’s Party, Sufyan Al-Omari, said current developments in Yemen and the region cannot be separated from US and Zionist efforts to reorganize and manage conflict dynamics after earlier plans were disrupted by shifting realities, most notably Sana’a’s stance in support of Palestine.

Speaking to Al-Masirah TV, Al-Omari explained that the objective is not genuine de-escalation among regional and local proxies, but rather the prevention of direct clashes between US-aligned tools while keeping tensions alive to ensure continued American influence in Yemen and the region. He described claims of an Emirati withdrawal as media illusion, noting the continued Emirati presence on Yemeni islands and strategic locations, alongside growing Saudi deployment in some areas under a policy of shared influence.

According to Al-Omari, the US does not allow its regional partners to act independently of its agenda, even at the expense of their own security or public interest. He added that the organic political and military alignment of Saudi Arabia and the UAE with Washington makes any decision outside US parameters effectively impossible.

Al-Omari also addressed the recent prisoner exchange agreement, noting that the UN envoy’s announcement—just 24 hours after the signing—that the so-called “roadmap” had expired came after Sana’a placed the coalition states in a difficult position by calling for the continuation of negotiations following Al-Aqsa Flood, a trajectory incompatible with the US agenda.

He said recent escalation under slogans such as “international navigation” and “protection of sovereign resources” is intended to justify the deployment of international forces and impose direct British and US presence, paving the way for renewed aggression against Yemen and serving the Zionist project in the Red Sea. Al-Omari stressed that the ultimate goal is to entrench division, weaken Yemen, and manufacture legal pretexts for international occupation, adding that Sana’a remains the primary obstacle to US-British-Zionist plans.

In a related context, Ansarullah Political Bureau member Ali Al-Dailami said developments in so-called Somaliland must be understood within broader US-Zionist schemes aimed at fragmenting Arab and Islamic states and imposing regional hegemony. He described US policies as marked by double standards and racial bias, violating UN principles and state sovereignty through attempts to legitimize partition.

Al-Dailami said the situation in Somalia mirrors efforts by the Saudi-Emirati coalition to impose similar models in southern Yemen, stressing that Emirati interventions there serve no economic or social purpose, but function as executive tools for US and Zionist agendas. He highlighted Somalia’s strategic location near Bab al-Mandab as central to these plans, warning that such moves are designed to monitor and ultimately target Yemen’s regional role.

He added that these interventions aim to prevent Yemen from restoring normal relations with African states, while the Zionist enemy and the US seek to expand their direct footprint in Africa, exploiting mineral resources and strategic geography.

Al-Dailami said the military position announced by Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi represents an appropriate response to US-Zionist expansionist efforts, noting that a firm, unified Arab stance was needed to confront fragmentation schemes rather than reliance on weak diplomatic positions that enable continued Western and Israeli enemy domination.

The renewed political and military maneuvering around Yemen, the Red Sea, and the Horn of Africa comes amid heightened regional tensions following the war on Gaza and Yemen’s growing role in maritime pressure against the Israeli enemy. Analysts say US and British moves—often through regional partners—aim to safeguard control over strategic waterways such as Bab al-Mandab, contain rising resistance influence led by Ansarullah, and preserve Western dominance over regional security and economic routes, while deflecting attention from the broader confrontation unfolding across Palestine and the region.
