IRGC Intelligence Announces Arrest of Mossad-Linked Operative as Part of Countering Foreign-Backed Riots

News - Middle East: The Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced the arrest of a foreign national responsible for espionage on behalf of the Israeli regime’s Mossad spy agency.

The organization reported the information in a statement on Saturday, saying the detention had come amid heightened efforts to counter foreign-backed attempts to destabilize the country.

According to the statement, the individual had entered Iran under cover on behalf of Mossad to collect intelligence and assess conditions related to the terrorist activities of the agency’s operatives.

The person in question was arrested while carrying out these activities, and searches of the individual’s belongings and hideout led to the discovery of documents bearing definitive proof of espionage.

The announcement followed an earlier statement issued by the Intelligence Organization reaffirming its commitment to stand alongside the Iranian nation in the face of recent sporadic riots linked to foreign interference.

In that statement, the organization said intelligence assessments had indicated that Iran’s adversaries had shifted from direct military aggression to efforts aimed at fomenting chaos, undermining public order, and weakening domestic security.

According to the statement, these efforts came after the failure of aggressors to force Iran into submission through military pressure.

The organization noted that hostile actors, led by the United States and supported by Zionist officials, had pursued a combination of measures, including economic pressure, renewed sanctions, encouragement of acts of destruction, and attempts to create psychological strain within society.

Within this framework, the organization said a targeted, multi-stage plot had been designed by foreign intelligence services and implemented by organized terrorist elements.

It said these efforts sought to exploit legitimate gatherings by professional groups and social sectors to divert protests towards violent and armed actions.

The statement added that recent violence had included attacks on military facilities and the killing of citizens and security personnel tasked with maintaining public order. It stressed that responsibility for the bloodshed lay with those who plotted and directed the incidents.

While reiterating that peaceful protests over economic concerns were considered legitimate, the organization emphasized that violence, sabotage, and foreign-backed riots would not be tolerated, describing protection of public security and the achievements enabled by the country’s Islamic Revolution as its red lines, and pledging to continue confronting hostile plots until lasting security was restored.

The comments echoed numerous remarks made by the Islamic Republic’s various authorities, who have repeatedly stressed that the country would exert due effort to address economic protests, but stands firmly in the face of attempts at derailing protests towards disorder.
